Philip Milton

As Chair of the ADW Educational Technology Department, Philip’s primary role is to manage and guide a team of Educational Technologists in achieving the aims and objectives of the Ed Tech Department as reflected in the college Strategic Plan. Phil’s interests are in developing pedagogically sound teaching and learning resources which incorporate effective use of Educational Technologies. He has been a primary, secondary and tertiary teacher for more years than willing to admit, and also has extensive experience in project management of medium and large scale projects at both a College and Enterprise system level . In addition to this Management role, Philip is also the College PD Coordinator and Chair of the ADW PD Committee.

Alan Pollock

Alan Pollock

Alan is interested in promoting the use of computer assisted learning, particularly language learning with his background as an English language teacher, in a blended learning environment. He is familiar with Hot Potatoes, Winwida, Clarity and WebCT software and occasionally designs his own software using Visual Basic 6. For making instructional movies, he uses Captivate and Camtasia. For sound editing he uses Audacity. His current research interest is podcasting. He is a Linux enthusiast and recommends PCLinuxOS 2007 for anyone who wants to see why Linux should be in every computer. He believes that there is seldom a generic solution to learning problems and each institution needs to have its own individualized solutions to maximize their impact. Which is one reason why he is now a Blackboard Vista trainer.

Arafat

Arafat Qureshi

Arafat joined ED Tech team in February 2007. He is a qualified Mechanical Engineer but introduction to computers led him to a Masters degree in Computer Sciences and various IT certifications. He is experienced in design and development of dynamic and interactive web applications. Currently he is involved in implementation of SharePoint 2007 and maintenance of Oracle Application Suite based applications along with other college Information Systems and applications. Recent studies include developing .Net Web Applications and their integration with existing systems. He is a gadget freak and keeps a keen eye on latest gizmos and technologies. He enjoys movies, music and photography. Cricket and Tennis are his favorite sports.

Ashraf Mahmoud

Ashraf Mahmoud

I am working as web and software developer. I have a Master degree in IT and also Oracle Certification. Mostly, I work on new web application using ASP.NET and Oracle as well as a Database Administrator at the college to support other users and applications. Personally, my interests are in web technologies, e-business, e-learning, and web security. Also I spend a lot of time in graphics design using packages such as Adobe and Macromedia Products.

Brian Nielsen

Brian is an English teacher who is busily developing his skills at using PHP and developing simple applications in Flash. He is a certified Blackboard trainer and enjoys his current job as teacher, trainer and web applications designer. He likes his weekends and holidays even more!

Chris Lear
Christian Lear

As an IT teacher I have taught in many different areas from web development to programming. I am interested in student focused web based systems which enrich campus life.

After leaving university with my degree in Computing and Information System, I worked in various areas of the IT industry. I have a keen interest in product development and gadgets, I once worked on a project to develop and “in car” computer called the “Autopc”. I have many hobbies which include squash and football.

Padraig Hyland

Padraig Hyland

Padraig joined the Ed Tech department in August 2005. He is the trainer and Administrator for Blackboard Vista, the college’s online learning system. He delivers weekly PD sessions that are open to faculty and provides advice on specific Blackboard issues in one to one sessions. Faculty can contact him by phone (569) or email for an appointment. Padraig’s research interests include e-learning pedagogy, instructional design, online assessment and motivational strategies in Education.

Tom Smith

Tom Smith

Tom has a Masters degree in Education Technology from the University of Manchester, and has worked in the EdTech department since its inception. He has led a range of projects including the adaptation and delivery of multimedia materials; design and maintenance of College Department web pages; teaching materials database development, and staff training. He is familiar with audio and video encoding and editing applications across the Windows, Real and QuickTime platforms; Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks; CorelDraw, and also delivers PD sessions on the Microsoft Office suite for the ICDL. He is also a WebCT Certified Trainer. Currently he is college SharePoint administrator and has led the design and implementation of the College SharePoint sites.
